Few pop punk bands from the early 2010s wave have stuck around as long or evolved as interestingly as The Story So Far. The Walnut Creek, California five piece built their reputation on muscular, slightly harder edged pop punk across their first three records, Under Soil and Dirt, What You Don't See, and their 2015 self titled album, with What You Don't See cracking the Billboard 200 at number 46. They have always leaned into hardcore and punk rock textures more than most of their peers, giving their sound a bit more grit. Their fourth album Proper Dose in 2018 pushed things further, folding in indie rock influences and debuting at number 19 on the Billboard 200. After some lineup shuffling, including the departure of founding bassist Kelen Capener, the band expanded to a six piece live setup and kept writing. Their fifth album I Want to Disappear arrived in June 2024, preceded by singles like Letterman and All This Time, and they have been playing live at big venues since, including a show at Red Rocks in 2024.
