About
The Sunshine Factory started life as a way to dodge outside interference. After their earlier project The Ellen, guitarist Ian Taylor and his father, lyricist Robert Taylor, wanted something self contained that nobody else could mess with. The result is a shoegaze, noise pop and psychedelic rock band from Mobile, Alabama, now a trio with Taylor, Sally Robertson on bass and vocals, and drummer Clay Bates. They have two albums, Vintage Revolution (2009) and Sugar (2010), plus three singles. Popmatters.com called the music "distortion fueled pop" when it featured their video for "Twisted and Clover", and "My Sugar Cane" got a song of the day nod on futuresounds.com. Live, the band leans into a full sensory overload of light, video and sound. They also headed into Sweet Tea Recording Studio to work with producer Dennis Herring.
