About
Also known as: The World Alive
Phoenix metalcore outfit The Word Alive have been grinding since 2008, and their trajectory really took off once Tyler Smith stepped in as vocalist. The band landed on Fearless Records early on, and their EP Empire made an immediate impression, cracking the Billboard Heatseekers chart at No. 15 in 2009. The single "Battle Royale" became their signature track, landing on the Vans Warped Tour compilation and as downloadable content in Rock Band. Their 2010 debut full length Deceiver pushed even further, reaching No. 97 on the Billboard 200. The current lineup features Smith on vocals alongside Jose DelRio, Logan Abernethy, and Devin Attard, blending metalcore muscle with post hardcore melody. After years on Fearless, they moved to Thriller Records in 2022, and a 2023 music video for "New Reality" shows the band still pushing forward.
