About
Also known as: Stratking of Europe
Thomas Blug earned the title Stratking of Europe in 2004, and it stuck. The Saarbrücken guitarist has built a career around Stratocaster tone, releasing solo records like The Beauty of Simplicity and Electric Gallery, as well as a live Hendrix tribute album, while also fronting the Thomas Blug Band and contributing to the group Dreist. He was named Best German Rock and Pop Guitarist back in 1997, which tells you something about how seriously the German guitar community takes him. For nearly three decades he worked as a product designer for amp makers Hughes and Kettner before launching his own company, Bluguitar, in 2014. Bluguitar produces guitars, amplifiers, cabs and effects units, so his engineering side runs just as deep as his playing. He has also shared stages with serious company, including Deep Purple alumni Ian Paice and Don Airey, and prog legend Thijs van Leer.
