Thomas Dausgaard has built one of the most wide ranging conducting careers in Scandinavian classical music, leading orchestras across Europe and North America for decades. He served as chief conductor of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra from 1997 and later as Chief Conductor of both the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, becoming the first Danish conductor to hold the top post at the DNSO. His recording output is substantial, covering complete symphony cycles of Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert and Brahms, plus extensive Scandinavian repertoire on labels including Chandos, BIS and Simax. Several of his Seattle Symphony recordings, featuring Nielsen, Mahler and others, have been Grammy nominated. He has a close relationship with composer Per Nørgård, serving as the dedicatee of Nørgård's orchestral work Terrains Vagues.
