Thornhill have carved out a distinctive corner of the heavy music world by blending metalcore's aggression with progressive textures and atmospheric depth. The Melbourne four piece, anchored by vocalist Jacob Charlton and guitarist Ethan McCann, broke through after winning a Triple J Unearthed competition that landed them a support slot with Architects, which kicked open the door to bigger stages fast. Their debut album The Dark Pool arrived in 2019, debuted at number 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and earned them a nomination for Best International Breakthrough Band at the Heavy Music Awards. A second album, Heroine, followed in 2022, and their third full length Bodies landed in 2025. Along the way they picked up a genuinely strange footnote in Australian radio history when a Triple J station accidentally played their track Lily and the Moon on loop for nearly four hours one early morning in 2020.
