Thousand Foot Krutch built their reputation the hard way, selling 85,000 copies of their indie record Set It Off straight out of their van while touring across North America. The Peterborough, Ontario trio, anchored by vocalist Trevor McNevan, drummer Steve Augustine and bassist Joel Bruyere, blends alternative rock and nu metal within a Christian rock framework, and has moved more than 1.1 million albums over their career, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums Chart twice. Their early sound leaned heavily on rapped vocals and hip hop flavored nu metal, but they gradually shifted toward a harder, riff driven rock style across ten studio albums. Their 2003 major label debut Phenomenon was a turning point, selling 200,000 copies and becoming one of the best selling releases in Tooth and Nail Records history. Tracks like Rawkfist showed what TFK could do with a big production budget behind them. Later cuts such as Courtesy Call and War of Change kept them a fixture on hard rock radio, and the band has kept releasing music well into the 2010s, including the albums Oxygen: Inhale and Exhale.
