Tiakola, the French rapper and singer born William Mundala, built his reputation through a string of well placed collaborations before stepping fully into the spotlight. Coming up as part of the collective 4Keus, he tested solo waters in 2019 with Sombre Mélodie, a track that got him on the radar and led to features alongside Tayc, Dadju, Franglish, Leto and Gazo. His 2022 debut album Mélo, a 16 tracker packed with guests including Hamza, Gazo, Niska and SDM, was the moment things clicked into place. The pop rap blend he works in sits somewhere between melodic softness and street level directness, which is kind of his whole thing. In 2023 he linked up with British rapper Dave for two tracks, Meridian and Special, a pairing that pushed his sound onto a broader stage.
