About
Also known as: DJ Tieum
Matthieu Fournier, who records as Tieum, has been shaping the harder end of the French hardcore scene since the early 1990s. He launched Psychiatrik Records in 1997, and the label became a cornerstone of his identity, giving him a platform to put out the relentless, industrial influenced sound he had been refining for years. His 2004 album "I've Got Nothing to Lose" broke him well beyond France, cementing his reputation across Europe. Drawing heavily from Dutch hardcore and the raw, abrasive textures of Industrial Strength, Tieum pushes his music noticeably harder than most of his peers, which is probably why so many fellow hardcore DJs keep his records in rotation. In 2005 he launched a second label, Altern Hate, to give his sound a fresh direction, releasing collaborations with Lenny Dee, Unexist and French act E.S.T. A team up with Ophidian in 2006 produced "Nothing I Can't Handle", another track that showed just how well his style travels across borders.
