Tim Vermeulen Quartet (BE)

About

Tim Vermeulen Quartet is a jazz group from Bruges that aims for something cinematic. Their music is built on strong, lyrical melodies, and the band likes to work right on the line between tightly written composition and spur of the moment improvisation. They treat that as an interactive game, both among themselves and with the audience, so the room is pulled into the energy as it happens. The pieces are narrative, carefully thought out compositions that only really come alive with the right players. A set tends to travel, starting out intimate and atmospheric and growing raw and energetic. The quartet has also been nominated three times for the international Bjazz competition.
