About
Tom Rothrock is the kind of producer whose fingerprints are all over records you already love. Based in Los Angeles and the founder of Bong Load Records, he helped launch Beck's career by co producing "Loser", which became the first number one non major label single since FM radio went mainstream. That led straight to Mellow Gold, and from there Rothrock's production work expanded across an enormous range of artists, from Elliott Smith and Foo Fighters to Elbow, R. L. Burnside, and Motörhead. His work stretches well beyond the studio. He produced the Badly Drawn Boy soundtrack for About A Boy, composed music for Michael Mann's Collateral, and got a credit on "Goofy Goober Rock" for The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. R. L. Burnside's "It's Bad You Know", recorded by Rothrock, landed on The Sopranos original soundtrack. He also co produced James Blunt's Moon Landing in 2013, a record widely seen as a strong comeback for Blunt.
