About
Trio 258 is a chamber music ensemble that reviewers consistently describe with one word: deeply felt. Whatever the programme, the group is known for playing with genuine emotional investment rather than technical detachment. Their project Salon de Paris centres on the musical world of late nineteenth and early twentieth century Paris, tracing the arc from Romantic to Impressionist sensibilities through the work of Debussy and Ravel, two composers who began as close allies and ended as bitter rivals. The trio weaves Edith Piaf into that Parisian soundscape as well, showing a willingness to colour outside strict classical lines. At the heart of their approach is a search for their own sound within the Romantic tonal ideal.
