About
Trio con Brio Copenhagen play chamber music at a level that makes critics reach for superlatives. The Copenhagen based piano trio consists of Danish pianist Jens Elvekjaer and South Korean sisters Soo Jin Hong and Soo Kyung Hong, who perform on an Andrea Guarneri violin and an Amati cello respectively. They broke through in 2002 by winning the main prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Germany, and the momentum never really stopped. By 2005 they had claimed the Kalichstein Laredo Robinson International Trio Award, one of the most coveted prizes in chamber music, which brought them concert engagements across twenty major US series and a record deal. Their debut CD drew a rave from the American Record Guide, which called it one of the greatest chamber music performances the reviewer had ever encountered, pointing to the trio's extraordinary range of tone and timbre. Gramophone agreed, saying their performances can compete with the best available. Beyond recordings, they are a regular presence at Carnegie Hall and tour across Europe, North America and Asia. They are also a go to ensemble for Beethoven's Triple Concerto, performing it with orchestras including the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Copenhagen Philharmonic. A minor planet, 6623 Trioconbrio, is even named after them.
