About
Also known as: Charlene "Tweet" Keys, Charlene Keys
Tweet's debut single "Oops (Oh My)", produced by Timbaland with Missy Elliott guesting, went to number one on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart and reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. Her first album, Southern Hummingbird, landed at number three on the Billboard 200 and was a soulful, lived in record built with Timbaland, guitarist John "Jubu" Smith and others. She came up through Devante Swing's Swing Mob collective as part of the trio Sugah, and her friendship with Missy Elliott shaped much of what followed. Before and around her own releases, she was a busy backing vocalist, turning up on records by Ja Rule, Whitney Houston, Monica, Madonna remixes and Angie Stone's "U Haul", plus several Missy Elliott albums. Her second album, It's Me Again, arrived in 2005 and featured her daughter on "Two of Us". Later came a live band EP called Simply Tweet in 2013, and a run of Tweet Tuesdays on SoundCloud where she shared unreleased material.
