About
Twin Tribes built their reputation the hard way, touring relentlessly and putting out records that landed them at the forefront of the current dark wave and gothic rock revival. The Brownsville, Texas duo, Luis Navarro and Joel Niño Jr., draw equally from classic 1980s touchstones like The Cure and Depeche Mode and from Spanish language post punk acts such as Caifanes and Soda Stereo, giving their sound a distinctive Latin edge that sets them apart from most of their peers. Their single "Fantasmas" racked up over a million YouTube views before they even got the official video out, which says a lot about the appetite for what they do. Three studio albums in, Shadows (2018), Ceremony (2019), and Pendulum (2024), the band has refined a formula built around vintage synths like the Roland JX 3P and Korg Poly 800 layered over guitar and bass. Pendulum was warmly received by the specialist press, and the video for "Monolith", directed by Sultan Mars and featuring dancer Nastia Gale Yavorski, drew particular praise. Their most recent video, "Cauldron of Thorns", dropped in late 2024.
