Scott Hansen makes music under the name Tycho, a project that sits somewhere between sun soaked ambient drift and gently pulsing electronic grooves. Based in San Francisco and also known as ISO50 for his photography and design work, Hansen draws comparisons to Boards of Canada and Ulrich Schnauss, blending lo fi analogue textures with layered synthesizers and guitar. The name comes from Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe, which fits neatly with the music's sense of vast, contemplative space. Hansen spent years as a solo artist before expanding Tycho into a full live band with bass, drums, and additional instrumentation. His 2016 album Epoch and 2019 follow up Weather both earned Grammy nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Album, putting him firmly on the map beyond the electronic underground. His most recent record, Infinite Health, came out in 2024.
