Unpeople (GB)

About

Unpeople take their name from a stark political idea: an "unperson" is someone society has decided doesn't count. That sense of being overlooked or dismissed runs straight through their music, a blend of alternative rock and metal where heavy riffs and sharp guitar work sit comfortably alongside memorable melodies and layered harmonies. The four piece, made up of guitarists Jake Crawford and Luke Caley, bassist Em Lodge and drummer Richard Rayner, won the Heavy Music Award for Best Breakthrough Live Artist after a string of sold out shows in London. Their debut album 'we are unpeople' captures both the frustration and the antidote: single 'friends' makes clear the band isn't just angry about the state of things, it wants to make sure nobody feels alone in that anger.
