About
Urban Tribe is the alias of Detroit electronic musician Sherard Ingram, whose work sits at the intersection of Detroit techno and electronica. His first releases came out on Carl Craig's labels, Retroactive and Planet E, before he signed to Mo Wax and put out the EP Eastward in 1996. His debut full length, The Collapse of Modern Culture, followed in 1998 with production credits from Craig, Anthony Shakir, and Moodymann, making it something of a Detroit underground all star record. After a stint recording for Clone Records under the name Mystic Tribe, he moved to Rephlex Records, where he released two full lengths: Authorized Clinical Trials in 2006 and Acceptable Side Effects in 2007. A self titled album on Mahogani Music rounded out his catalogue in 2010.
