About
Utrechts Harp Trio is a chamber group built around an unusual line up: harp, flute and viola. Annemieke IJzerman plays the harp, Hanspeter Spannring the flute and Michiel Holtrop the viola, a combination that gives their sound a light, singing quality. They like to build programmes around a theme, and one of them, called Appelballet, leans on ballet music. Expect classics such as the Waltz of the Flowers, Swan Lake, La Bayadère and Les patineurs, arranged for their three instruments. It is familiar, tuneful repertoire presented in a form you do not hear every day.
