Van Asseldonk Cartel

About

Van Asseldonk Cartel is a rock band from Wageningen that started as the songwriting project of Sjoerd van Asseldonk, who plays guitar and sings. He has written his own music for years as an outlet for emotions, and he also releases it solo under the same name. His brother Jelle has played music with him for a long time and takes the bass. Drummer Bas van Beek heard some of the songs, decided they deserved a proper band, and the group took shape from there. Lars Hamelijnck completes the lineup on keys. The members come from other bands around town, including Imposter Syndrome, Sojasaurus and Coleoptera, and they all have plenty of experience with bands and jam sessions. Sjoerd's songs are the backbone of the sound, but every member adds a personal twist, so the band plays them in its own way. Locally they get called a Wageningen supergroup.
