Vended carry some serious weight in their DNA: singer Griffin Taylor is the son of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, and drummer Simon Crahan is the son of Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan. Both are quick to push back on the obvious comparisons, pointing out they are largely self taught and built the band on their own terms alongside guitarist Cole Espeland, bassist Jeremiah Pugh, and guitarist Connor Grodzicki. The Des Moines nu metal outfit got their name from the word vendetta, pronounced "ven DEAD". After debuting live in March 2020 right before the pandemic shut everything down, they worked their way up from the 2021 EP What Is It//Kill It through a US tour with Jinjer and P.O.D. in 2022, dropping a string of standalone singles along the way. Their self titled debut album arrived in September 2024, with recent videos for tracks like "Nihilism" and "The Far Side" showing the band in full stride.
