About
Verdronken Vlinder is a tribute concert production celebrating the Dutch language songwriting of Boudewijn de Groot and lyricist Lennaert Nijgh. Singers, musicians and storytellers come together to perform songs from that catalogue, ranging from the socially critical Welterusten, Meneer de President to the tender Avond and the dreamy Testament. The eight piece Vrienden van Vroeger Band is led by Dick Plat, a composer and keyboard player known from BZN, alongside Canyon vocalist Jaap Veerman. The show treats these songs not as nostalgia but as living material, and the production leans into the idea that lyrics written decades ago still feel surprisingly relevant today. It is aimed squarely at audiences who grew up with this music and want to hear it given a full, careful treatment rather than a quick run through.
