About
Victor Ray built his early following the old fashioned way, busking on streets and racking up views on social media, before a viral TikTok cover of Hozier's "Take Me to Church" in late 2021 put him on the map. His sound sits squarely in soulful R&B and pop, and critics have picked up on a vocal quality that manages to feel both powerful and genuinely vulnerable. He signed to Decca Records in 2024, with the single "Comfortable" becoming his breakthrough, peaking at number 62 on the UK Singles Chart and pulling in millions of streams. Ray has been quietly consistent since then, releasing a string of EPs including I TRIED. and I WILL., the latter featuring British rappers Kojey Radical and Strandz on the track "Sticks & Stones". He has spoken openly about wanting to expand what black British artists can represent in mainstream pop, pushing beyond the usual rap and grime associations. That mission got a real stamp of validation in late 2025 when "You & I" became his first UK Top 40 single, peaking at number 29.
