About
Villagers is essentially the vehicle of Dublin based singer, songwriter and producer Conor J O'Brien, and the project has been turning heads since the debut album Becoming a Jackal landed in 2010. That record shot straight to number one on the Irish Albums Chart and earned a Mercury Prize shortlisting, setting the tone for a career built on carefully crafted arrangements and lyrics that actually make you think. The second album, {Awayland}, won the Choice Music Prize in 2013 and picked up another Mercury nod, while the third, Darling Arithmetic, took the Ivor Novello Award for Best Album in 2016. The Art of Pretending to Swim followed in 2018, and the fifth studio album Fever Dreams arrived in 2021. Released on Domino Recording Co, the catalogue spans folk, indie folk and indie rock with a restless, inquisitive quality running through all of it.
