Vince Staples has always kept it raw. The Long Beach rapper built his reputation through a string of Odd Future collaborations, trading verses with Earl Sweatshirt before most people knew his name, and eventually landing a deal with producer No I.D.'s ARTium Recordings imprint at Def Jam. His 2015 debut album Summertime '06 put him firmly on the map, with the platinum certified single Norf Norf cutting through as one of the most uncompromising rap tracks of that year. What makes Staples stand out is how his music blends West Coast hip hop grit with avant garde and electronic production choices, a combination that kept each release, from Big Fish Theory to FM! to Ramona Park Broke My Heart, sounding distinctly his own. Beyond music, he has carved out a real acting presence too, appearing in films and TV shows, and in 2024 he created and starred in his own Netflix series, The Vince Staples Show. His seventh studio album Cry Baby arrived in 2026 as his first release as an independent artist.
