Violet Chachki won Season 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race in 2015 and has since pushed well beyond the TV competition circuit. Her aesthetic is rooted in vintage glamour and fetish fashion, pulling from Bettie Page pin up imagery, latex subculture, and the kind of tightly laced corsetry that demands commitment. She cites Thierry Mugler, Christian Dior, and Dita Von Teese as touchstones, and her look has earned her runways at Milan Fashion Week for Moschino and a spot at the Met Gala. Her music career runs parallel to her performance work in burlesque and aerial arts. She dropped her debut EP Gagged shortly after her Drag Race win, and in 2021 teamed up with Allie X on the single Mistress Violet, a BDSM themed, 1980s flavored track shot on analog film featuring haute couture by Schiaparelli. She was also the first drag queen to front a major lingerie ad campaign and in 2023 became the first Drag Race alumna to appear on the cover of Vogue Czechoslovakia.
