About
Also known as: Christian Valentin Brunn, Valentin Brunn
Virtual Riot, the stage name of German producer Valentin Brunn, has built a reputation for bending genre rules across dubstep, future bass, riddim, and electro house. His output sits somewhere between technically intricate and genuinely hard hitting, which is probably why outlets like Your EDM have flagged him as "non traditional" and drawn comparisons to artists like Savant. Before going by Virtual Riot, he was making ambient dubstep and future garage under the alias Your Personal Tranquilizer, which gives you a sense of just how wide his palette runs. Signed to Disciple Recordings in 2014, he scored his biggest chart moments with the EP Chemistry, which cracked the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart at number 20, and German Engineering, which hit number 11 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. He later landed a publishing deal with Skrillex's OWSLA imprint and has kept up momentum with studio albums on Monstercat, including Stealing Fire in 2024. His 2024 upload "I heard you like polyrhythms" is a pretty good hint at where his head is at musically.
