Vitamin String Quartet started in 1999 as a project to see what happens when you run rock and pop songs through classical string arrangements, and the answer turned out to be: a lot. Developed and produced by Los Angeles independent label CMH Records, VSQ works with a rotating crew of arrangers and string players rather than a fixed lineup, which helps explain how they've managed to rack up over 400 albums covering everyone from Iron Maiden to Lana Del Rey, Coldplay to Gorillaz, and pretty much everything in between. They've found a second life soundtracking prestige TV too. Their string covers turned up repeatedly in Westworld and became a signature texture of Bridgerton on Netflix, with versions of Nirvana, Robyn and Billie Eilish showing up across the series. Their cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Scar Tissue" landed on the King of Staten Island soundtrack in 2020, and the Bridgerton connection even led to Doctor Who borrowing a couple of VSQ tracks in 2024.
