About
Vito Paternoster made history as the first cellist to record the complete Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Cello, a feat made possible after he tracked down an anonymous transcription from Bach's own era, found alongside Bach's original violin manuscripts. That kind of archival detective work says a lot about how seriously he takes the music. His recording Inzaffirio takes a more personal angle, distilling the preludes from Bach's Cello Suites and pairing each one with an arrangement for soprano, solo cello, and string orchestra. He records for Musicaimmagine and has held the principal cellist chair at I Musici in Rome. On top of his performing and recording career, he teaches at the Bari Conservatory in Italy, and his YouTube channel shows him ranging from Baroque repertoire all the way to cello arrangements of pop songs.
