About
Vocaal Ensemble Da Capo is a choir that has been singing together for over three decades, with Leander Schoormans as its regular conductor and Eline van Vroonhoven on organ and piano. They work in the classical and art song repertoire, and they like to build programmes around a theme rather than just stringing pieces together. One of those themes put women composers front and centre. The choir sang music by Marianna von Martines, who lived in the Mozart era and counts among the most important female composers of her time, and the Three Madrigals by Emma Lou Diemer, an American composer, music educator and organist. For bigger projects like this, the singers are joined by a small orchestra. Their approach is plain: sing with conviction and enthusiasm, and let the music do the talking.
