About

South London's Wallflower built a reputation as one of the more distinctive voices in British emo, blending grunge textures, jazz inflected moments and emotionally charged vocal melodies with anthemic choruses that hit harder for being surrounded by gritty, effects laden verses. Their guitarist leaned heavily on EarthQuaker Devices' Rainbow Machine pedal and fuzz, giving their sound a dreamy yet abrasive quality that drew comparisons to Sonic Youth, Radiohead and Paramore all at once. NME and The Independent both flagged them as key players in emo's next wave around the release of their debut album Teach Yourself to Swim in 2020. On their second EP Where It Fell Apart they started folding in synthesisers, sampling and industrial elements, which set them apart from the straightforward pop punk crowd. After disbanding shortly after the album dropped, the band reunited and played their first live show since 2019 at London's The Lexington in early 2026.
