About
Wanda's are a feminist punk and rock band with roots going back to the early days of Parkhof, a legendary DIY squat venue and youth centre in Alkmaar that ran for over 25 years from the late 1970s. They were not just regulars there but were central to running the place. Over roughly a decade as an active band they played extensively across the Netherlands and recorded two albums before eventually going quiet. After a long absence they returned to the live circuit, billing themselves as Angry Old Women and carrying the same confrontational energy that defined them from the start. The reunion is not nostalgia for its own sake. Their set still hits hard, and their connection to the Parkhof story puts them at the heart of a broader conversation about DIY culture, free space and punk as a living attitude rather than a museum piece.
