About
We Are Scientists built their reputation on sharp, energetic indie rock and a genuine sense of humor that bleeds into everything they do. Formed in Berkeley in 1999 by guitarist and vocalist Keith Murray and bassist Chris Cain, the duo broke through with their debut proper, With Love and Squalor, which shifted 100,000 copies in its first six months and delivered the infectious singles Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt and The Great Escape. The comedy side is no sideshow either: the pair have long used interviews, press releases, and live banter as a canvas for jokes, which eventually led to a 2009 MTV short series called Steve Wants His Money and a podcast, Dumpster Dive, launched in 2020. With eight studio albums now under their belt, the most recent being Qualifying Miles in 2025, they have kept a prolific pace while drummer Keith Carne has been holding down the beat since 2013.
