About
Wegsfeer are a Belgian new wave cover band with a clear focus and genuine enthusiasm for the darker end of the 1980s. Their sets draw from the catalogues of Joy Division, The Cure, Bauhaus, The Sisters of Mercy, Echo and The Bunnymen, Virgin Prunes and The Neon Judgement, leaning firmly into postpunk and darkwave territory rather than anything resembling a safe greatest hits package. The four musicians bring serious pedigree to the stage, with backgrounds in acts including K's Choice, Meuris, Les Truttes and Condor Gruppe. Filip Heylens handles guitars and vocals, Bart Van Lierde covers bass and keyboards, Kris Delacourt plays guitars, keyboards and vocals, and Niko Westelinck drives the whole thing on drums and loops. The result is reportedly closer to a sweaty underground club set than a polished tribute night.
