About
West Side Trio bills itself as the only electric string trio in the Netherlands, and their music sits at the intersection of classical training, jazz, pop and electronics. The three musicians build their own experimental arrangements around acoustic instruments fused with electronic soundscapes and effects pedals, resulting in something that feels simultaneously intimate and cinematic. They have performed at major stages and festivals including Pinkpop and TivoliVredenburg, and have collaborated with artists such as Jonathan Jeremiah and Ken Stringfellow. One of their most distinctive projects is a live tribute to 1990s trip hop, reimagining music by Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky alongside vocalist and songwriter Lilian Hak, with strings, layered vocals and electronics taking the place of samplers and drum machines.
