About
Westend 3 is a trio that started up in early 2020, right as the pandemic was taking hold, and they used the lockdown period to write and record rather than sit still. Their sound hangs on a piano and an acoustic guitar woven tightly around each other, which gives Jeroen's vocals plenty of room to tell stories. The lyrics are cinematic, and the opening line of one of their first songs looks back on how that year began. The songs draw on classical music, folk, jazz, blues and Latin sounds, and the mood swings from slow, minor key adagio to hopeful, swinging numbers. Eight songs from their Christmas sessions were captured live in their own home studio and released as the album Homebound. A ten song follow up, Unchained, came a year later. Leon plays piano, Jeroen sings, and Kozi handles the acoustic guitar.
