About
Also known as: Alvin Lamar Worthy, WestsideGunn
Westside Gunn built something rare in rap: a label, a sound, and a whole aesthetic that feel genuinely his own. Out of Buffalo, he co founded Griselda Records in 2012 with his half brother Conway the Machine and cousin Benny the Butcher, and the three of them carved out a lane for gritty, sample heavy boom bap at a time when that sound had largely been abandoned by the mainstream. His mixtape series Hitler Wears Hermes became a cult touchstone, and his 2016 debut studio album Flygod put the Griselda name on the map properly. After a stint with Eminem's Shady Records that produced Who Made the Sunshine in 2020, Gunn went back to being fully independent. His fifth studio album And Then You Pray For Me arrived in 2023, a sequel to Pray for Paris, with both covers designed by the late Virgil Abloh. Gunn has since kept releasing music through mixtapes, launched a wrestling promotion called Fourth Rope, and in 2025 announced a hardcore punk side project called Dissension. Fashion has always run parallel to the rap career too: he founded the clothing brand Fashion Rebels and has been a fixture at both New York and Paris Fashion Week.
