While She Sleeps (GB)

About

Sheffield metalcore outfit While She Sleeps have spent nearly two decades building one of UK heavy music's most loyal followings on their own terms. The five piece, featuring vocalist Lawrence Taylor, guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh, bassist Aaran McKenzie and drummer Adam Savage, have kept the same lineup locked in since Taylor joined in 2009. Six studio albums followed, from the raw punch of This Is the Six through to Brainwashed, You Are We, So What?, Sleeps Society and Self Hell, all released via their own imprint Sleeps Brothers. That kind of independence is rare in heavy music and it shows in how uncompromising the records sound. They picked up the Best British Newcomer gong at the Kerrang! Awards back in 2012, but they have never really been a band that rests on that kind of validation. Their earlier work drew comparisons to Bring Me the Horizon, with whom they toured extensively, but While She Sleeps carved out their own corner of metalcore with layered melodies and a fierce, anthemic quality. More recently, 2024 saw them put out new music with the track To The Flowers.
