Will Liverman is an American baritone with a rare dual gift: he sings and acts with equal commitment, disappearing fully into whatever he performs. His recital work draws on a wide range of repertoire, from Mahler's deeply affecting Kindertotenlieder to Vaughan Williams, whose music he has arranged himself. He also composes his own songs, weaving them into programmes alongside the classical canon. Themes of loss and melancholy run through much of what he chooses to perform, and the resignation that colours Mahler's song cycle finds echoes in pieces like Vaughan Williams's Whither Must I Wander.
