Wind Rose have carved out a gloriously specific niche in heavy metal: power metal and folk metal built around the world of Tolkien's Dwarves, complete with orchestration, vocal harmonies, and bandmembers who actually dress the part. The sound has earned its own unofficial genre tag, dwarven metal, and it suits them perfectly. Founded in 2009 in Pisa, they built a reputation through support slots with Wintersun, Finntroll, Epica, and Ensiferum before their 2017 album Stonehymn and its single 'To Erebor' pushed them toward viral fame. The real breakthrough came in 2019 when their cover of 'Diggy Diggy Hole', originally by The Yogscast, racked up millions of views and introduced them to a whole new audience beyond the metal faithful. Signed to Napalm Records, they followed that momentum through Wintersaga, Warfront in 2022, and their sixth studio album Trollslayer, released in October 2024.
