Wolf Martini Trio

About

Wolf Martini Trio is a guitar led jazz group built around a tribute to Wes Montgomery, the American guitarist many people rank among the all time greats. Wolf Martini plays a warm, swinging, groovy style that recalls both Montgomery and George Benson, and he approaches the old material with real affection. Martini has played festivals including North Sea Jazz, Joy of Jazz in South Africa and the Baku Jazz Festival, and has shared stages with Jhelisa Anderson, Hans and Candy Dulfer, Denise Jannah and Rita Reys. Around him sit two Dutch jazz regulars: John Hondorp on Hammond organ and Gijs Dijkhuizen on drums. Together they work through Montgomery classics such as Four on Six, West Coast Blues and Bumpin' on Sunset, chasing the feel of that golden era of jazz rather than just copying it.
