Xamã writes rap with real literary weight, which makes sense given that he started out as a poet scribbling rhymes while selling peanuts on the street. That hustle fed directly into his debut album Pecado Capital in 2018, whose cover cheekily references the famous axe scene from The Shining. The breakout track from that record, "Luxúria" featuring fellow rapper Matuê, racked up over 80 million YouTube views and put him firmly on the Brazilian rap map. His 2020 album Zodíaco is the project he considers his most important work. Every song title carries a hidden meaning, and the album pulled in guests like Luísa Sonza, Marília Mendonça and Gloria Groove, with "Leão" alone passing 45 million views. "Malvadão 3" then hit number one in Brazil and landed in the global Spotify top 50, earning a BET Hip Hop Awards nomination for Best International Flow. On top of all that, Xamã has built a parallel acting career in TV Globo telenovelas and picked up a Latin Grammy along the way.
