Xaviersobased is the New York rapper and producer who, alongside his collective 1c34, helped pioneer jerk, one of the more genuinely strange microgenres to bubble up from the internet in the 2020s. His 2022 track "Patchmade" blew up as a TikTok sound, with The Face calling it a "jerk anthem" and Rolling Stone describing it as a "passing headrush". That kind of buzz put him on the map, but his actual catalog is a lot weirder and more layered than a viral moment suggests. His mixtapes Keep It Goin Xav and With 2, both from 2024, showed what he is really about: heavily stacked vocals, improvisatory energy, and a sound that Pitchfork called "vibrant, improvisatory, and fun as hell" while staying genuinely inaccessible to casual listeners. He has never chased TikTok algorithms and says so openly. In 2025 he signed to Atlantic Records and dropped the EP Once More, followed by his self titled debut album Xavier in early 2026.
