Yo Gotti has been one of Memphis rap's most consistent figures since the mid 1990s, grinding through five independent albums before the major label world caught up with him. His 2012 debut on a big label, Live from the Kitchen, cracked the Billboard 200's top fifteen, and he only got sharper from there. Signing to Epic Records in 2013, he dropped I Am and The Art of Hustle in back to back years, both landing in the top ten of the Billboard 200. His biggest chart moment came with "Rake It Up" alongside Mike Will Made It and Nicki Minaj, peaking at number eight on the Hot 100. Off the mic, he built Collective Music Group into a serious operation, signing Moneybagg Yo, GloRilla, 42 Dugg and others, proving he has as much instinct for spotting talent as he does for his own Memphis rooted sound.
