Yuksek (FR)

About

Yuksek, the project of Reims born producer Pierre Alexandre Busson, has been one of the more distinctive voices in French electronic music since the early 2000s, blending nu disco, funky house and indie dance into a sound that moves between the club and the radio without breaking a sweat. His 2009 debut album Away from the Sea put him firmly on the map, with the single Tonight landing on the Canal+ talk show Le Grand Journal as its theme and Extraball showing up in ad campaigns for Airness and Lacoste. His second album Living on the Edge of Time shifted things in a poppier direction while keeping the electronic pulse intact. Beyond his solo work, Yuksek has kept himself busy with a string of collaborations. With Brodinski, a fellow Reims native, he formed The Krays. With Stephen Fasano of Aeroplane, he became one half of Peter and the Magician. He also teamed up with UK producer Alex Metric as The Alexanders. In 2013 he launched his own label Partyfine, giving him a home base to release his own music and that of artists he believes in, including Juveniles and Oh Land.
