About
Yulya Divakova works somewhere between live composition and sonic improvisation, building performances from a personal library of recorded samples, live vocals, and analog synthesis. Rather than following a fixed arrangement, their sets move fluidly, shaped in the moment through spontaneous decisions about structure and texture. The result is something that feels genuinely alive, a mix of structural clarity, acoustic detail, and real time sound architecture. They were a resident in the VERVERS programme run by Cinetol, an interdisciplinary residency through which they developed and deepened their solo practice. A Yulya Divakova set draws on samples, vocals, synthesizers, and live mixing, and treats each performance as an opportunity to explore what it means to compose alongside an audience rather than simply for one.
