About
Also known as: 07, Ingrid Eto, Kling, Zero Seven, Zero-7, Zero7
Zero 7 is a London duo, Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker, who built their sound engineering chops at RAK Studios before crafting one of the most distinctive takes on downtempo and trip hop in the early 2000s. Their 2001 debut Simple Things, featuring vocalists Sia, Mozez, and Sophie Barker, went platinum and earned a Mercury Prize nomination. The follow up When It Falls peaked at number 3 on the UK albums chart, their highest position yet. The name itself has a good origin story: they picked it up from a bar called Cero Siete on the Honduran island Utila, then used it for their Radiohead remix before it just stuck. Over the years Zero 7 have kept restless, running side projects like the instrumental outfit Ingrid Eto and releasing material under the name Kling before folding those ideas into their fourth album Yeah Ghost. After a string of singles and EPs through the 2010s, 2024 brought In the Half Light, a full nine song album made with California artist Swim Surreal, effectively their fifth studio record and their first proper album in fifteen years.
