Zeromancer grew out of the wreckage of Seigmen, the band that dominated the Norwegian rock scene through the 1990s. When Seigmen split in early 2000, core members Kim Ljung, Alex Møklebust and Noralf Ronthi headed to Los Angeles and built something heavier and more electronic, landing in industrial rock territory that draws comparisons to Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM and Rammstein, with occasional synthpop flavours that bring Depeche Mode to mind. Their debut Clone Your Lover got them the best newcomer prize at the German Alternative Music Awards, and the title track became a genuine club hit. Over seven studio albums, Zeromancer have made a point of never repeating themselves. The relatively calm third album Zzyzx, named after a California road sign the band spotted on tour, caught fans off guard after two harder records. They covered Real Life and Depeche Mode along the way, toured the US with Pigface and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, and kept pushing. Their most recent album, Orchestra of Knives, arrived in 2021.
