About

Also known as: Zlata Chochieva

Zlata Chochieva has built a reputation as one of the most compelling Russian pianists of her generation, performing at venues like the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and the Lucerne Festival. Her discography on Piano Classics and ACCENTUS Music covers Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Scriabin with real depth, and her 2021 release featuring piano transcriptions by Rachmaninoff, Liszt and Friedman shows a taste for repertoire that rewards close listening. She has been named a Gilmore Rising Star and has played alongside conductors including Mikhail Pletnev and Vladimir Spivakov with orchestras across Europe and beyond. Chochieva is of Ossetian origin and trained at the Moscow Conservatory before heading to the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where she eventually became an assistant to Professor Jacques Rouvier. She has been based in Berlin since 2019. Her YouTube uploads of Rachmaninoff Etudes tableaux and Mendelssohn transcriptions give a clear sense of her precise yet expressive style at the keyboard.
