If you've ever been to a sports arena or a club night in the early 2000s, you've almost certainly heard "Kernkraft 400" without knowing it. The track by Munich's Florian Senfter, working as Zombie Nation, hit number 2 in the UK and topped charts across Europe, becoming one of those electro anthems that outlasted every trend around it. Senfter launched his own label, Dekathlon Records, in 2002 and has been releasing music on his own terms ever since, putting out albums like Absorber and the bass heavy Black Toys, which moves through tech hop and funk laden house. Live, he does things differently from most DJs, building his sets using an Akai MPC 4000 sequencer alongside effects units rather than just mixing records. He also teamed up with Tiga under the name ZZT, and even crowd sourced an entire track via Facebook and Twitter, letting followers vote on the sounds and loops that made it into the final recording.
